Les Layne in Time Colonist pans Campbell and takes a swipe at the NDP too. HAVE YA HAD ENOUGH YET???

July 15th, 2010

Layne in one of his better columns notes the Campbell is in a terrible spot.

The Liberals are hoping that anger is temporary and you’ll just get used to the HST.  After all, there is two and three quarter years to go in his term right?

They are in territory that the NDP were in when they were decimated at the polls.  Joy and Jenny was all there was.

What to do?  There is no winning this one. Even if Campbell steps down in disgrace,  there is nobody to step up and revitalize the party.

Like two peas in a pod. They both suck...

Like two peas in a pod. They both suck...

Then he took aim at the lack of noise from the NDP over revelations that Ida Chong was taking every single penny the legislature allows.  Her meal allowance for someone living locally, minutes away from home, shows an utter contempt for the state of the BC economy.

The fact that the NDP didn’t speak up?  Well they are two peas in a pod aren’t they?  Both exactly the same and playing from the same play book.

Voting for either one continues the insanity.

They are little more than liars, cheats and thieves.

HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH YET?

Free ride for FUDGE!!

July 12th, 2010

The Main Stream Media (MSM) is at it again.

Does anybody remember the cries of foul when the NDP fudged the deficit figures so very long ago?

Well the Liberals are getting a free ride in the media and it’s being noticed by the Tyee, an online periodical with a large following.

http://thetyee.ca/Opinion/2010/07/12/FudgeBudget/

This is fiscal mismanagement at it’s worst.

Then ad to this the statements by the Finance Minister that the mailouts and ads on the radio are necessary to counter the so-called misleading statements made by Anti-HST forces around the province.

Okay Finance Minister, HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST BC???  Huggie Hansen does not know.  You’re the finance minister, a businessman, and you don’t know???

No wonder the Province of BC is teetering on insolvency.

BC Refederation suggests a forensic audit of BC’s books to find out the truth of how far the Liberals have sunk us in the hole.

Owe-lympic debt is costing us billions when Campbell promised us 6oo Million.

Trade and Convention Center was nearly a billion dollars and is largely unbooked.  A bigger white elephant than the Fast Cats.  The cost overrun on this facility dwarfed the Fast Cats by double!!

They have made contractual obligations equal to $53 Billion.

These are the fiscal giants who you elected  (if you voted for them or didn’t bother to vote).  These guys are mismanaging BC.

I am honestly afraid to promise anything based on these reports.

But what I can promise,  is an end to rule by UNCONTROLLED POLITICIANS.

Direct Democracy in the first sitting as government.

A committee of Citizens to draft a no holds barred constitution of and by the people.

Renegotiation of things federal which directly impact on the sovereignty of BC.  It’s time BC got a fair shake within Confederation.

Join BC Refederation today.  And make as large a donation as you can.  We need to get ready for the next elections.  By-elections resulting from Recalls.  And of course the next general election.

DONATE

“I can’t help feeling so helpless.”

June 28th, 2010

It’s a feeling shared by so many as we approach the start date of the HST and we still don’t have a Democratic answer to it.

The ANTI-HST PETITION due to be submitted early on the 30th rather than on the 5th of July, really exemplifies BC Refederation’s  belief that BC is ready for a change democratically.

No wonder voter apathy is at an all time high in Canada.

SWITZERLAND also has high voter apathy during general elections.  It’s not important to them who runs and is elected.  WHY??? They have absolute control of their politicians.  Politicians are elected as part time employees and are part of a proportional representational system.  But because they CONTROL their politicians, it doesn’t matter WHO the elect. Their frequent initiatives, direct government policy.  The people vote and the vote is BINDING on the government to implement.

The more I look into the Swiss system, the more I fall in deeper love with it and wonder when we are going to have this for ourselves?

IT’S OUR TURN BC!!!  Look to Switzerland for hope!!

We at BC Refederation used them as our model. Join today and support real change.

Carole James meets BC Refederation Leader in Vanderhoof.

June 17th, 2010

Carole James and BC Refederation Leader Mike Summers

Carole James and BC Refederation Leader Mike Summers

NDP Leader Carole James was in Vanderhoof  on June 15 and invited Mike Summers to meet with her.

Meeting was short and pleasant.

However, when asked direct questions on whether she would scrap the HST when/if she assumed power, she said the party would have to have a discussion with the people on the issue.  She would not say that she is against it.

Oh really???  Then what is she doing about this?  Can you say political opportunism?  The NDP is letting the BC Liberals self destruct, which by the way they should.

But not wanting to quash this is dishonest Ms James.

Then Ms. James was asked about getting Federal Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty to back off implementation of the HST until after the HST petition had been vetted and finally disposed of by the people.  It was suggested that using her profile, she might add weight to the letter Mike Summers wrote to Jim Flaherty on June  10th.

Instead of saying yes to the request, she said she would defer it to the Federal Wing of the NDP.

Mike has been in direct contact with Nathan Cullen whose riding has overwhelmingly supported the Anti-HST petition.  So far there has been no response from him on the issue.

On the topic of the Carbon Tax, she was asked if she would do away with it.  She said that there was discussion about it before the election and the people spoke and re-elected the Liberals.  “But I won’t keep increasing it either.”

Small consolation to people living in the north and to truckers who are hit hard with the punishing tax.

It is clear, that while Carole James is a nice lady, she will continue to tax British Columbians with taxes brought in by the Liberals.

Now more than ever, the people of BC need the BC Refederation Party.

Blair Lekstrom bails on Liberal sinking ship!

June 12th, 2010

The first casualty of the Liberal insistence on ramming through HST is Blair Lekstrom.

Lekstrom admits to voting for it, but he said it has been made abundantly clear the his constituents don’t want any part of it.

Blair is hoping that bailing has saved his political butt.

Now there is six more MLAs that need to make a move.  Will they?

Letter to Flaherty Published in PG Free Press

Don’t bring HST in

Editor:

An open letter to Finance Minister Jim Flaherty

As you are aware, the citizens of B.C. have collected an astounding 600,000 signatures, representing over 15 per cent in each of the 85 constituencies.

That petition demands that the Government of B.C. introduce legislation to withdraw the agreement with the federal government, or take it to a referendum. We respectfully ask you to honour the wishes of the people and delay implementation of HST pending validation and final vote in any referendum that may subsequently be called.

I need not remind you that this is only fair to voters who have long supported Conservative members and who seek a democratic response from government.

And, it will add to the stability of business in B.C. which will be asked to shift tax collection methods one way, only to have them shifted back upon successful referendum in September 2011.

At that time. the government will be obligated to repay consumers in B.C. and it will likely result in a breaking of the bank.

For that reason, I adjure you to put off implementation of the HST pending final resolution of the petition.

It’s official. The Liberals are in a NO WIN situation.

June 9th, 2010

The Liberal legacy of lies, deceit and betrayal of BC Tax Payers has taken it’s toll.

And the arrogance of Liberal leader Gordon Campbell is to blame.  The HST was the final straw as voters in Liberal held constituencies find 62% of voters would sign a recall petition.  That is overwhelming poll numbers and everything I heard when collecting signatures during the ANTI-HST Petition.

John Rustad job on the line?

John Rustad job on the line?

John Rustad I found out, is very vulnerable to a recall.  He is not well liked, but the HST anger has pushed supporters over the edge.

The poll results along with the story are in the Vancouver Sun newspaper.

Liberal arrogance abounds.

May 27th, 2010

What shall we say then to those who are looking for a replacement to the Liberals?

You know that the NDP is about labour and not about democracy.  They believe, like Liberal Terry Lake, in representative democracy.

They believe that elected representatives can know better than you.

The BC Conservatives?  What about them?  They are just more of the same.  They really covet the federal Conservative vote.  They make themselves out to be the “other” choice, but are they?  No.

BC Refederation, sets itself apart from all other political parties.   We believe in representative democracy too.  We believe your MLA ought to SERVE YOU in your constituency.  We believe the job of the MLA is to take care of day to day administration of the province.

But what if you MLA’s  judgment takes a holiday, like we are seeing with the HST???  What then.  Then you the voter will have recourse.  Starting from the day the bill is passed.  There is a 100 day cooling off period where voters can decide to initiate a VOTER VETO of the bill.  The voter’s control the final process.  Intitiative if they don’t like it, and if it’s okay with them they do nothing. And, the results are binding on the government.  They have no choice.

This is NOT government by referendum.  It is CONTROL of government by referendum.

We live in an age of fast moving technology.  Information passes quickly.  What should you be bound to a system that worked in the mid 1800’s with technology as we have today.

We are literate.  They weren’t all that way then.  It’s time to change the system.

BC Refederation is the moderate, centrist alternative.

Laughing time…

May 24th, 2010

Premier Gordon Campbell  and Finance Minister Colin (Colon Huggie) Hansen are a few laughs away from getting their butts turffed from office.

The HST is bombing.  And in a big way too.  Never before has one government managed to tick off the BC electorate.

Maybe it’s time for a little laugh at their expense.

Enjoy.  I did.

Gordon Campbell fan mail?

May 12th, 2010

Gordon Campbell has a fan.  I get cc’d frequently by him.  This morning though I was looking at this wondering how to respond, when I got another email. I opted to blend the two in my response.

Good morning Mr. Premier,
Re: Crusader or political opportunist
Mr. Vander Zalm sees himself as the citizen’s champion, even though his political history was not about defending the disenfranchised. Still, his new found political sobriety empowers him to make an alliance with Carol James.
Bill and Carole attempt to point out the harm inflicted by the provincial government upon its residents presenting the HST a human rights issue.
How fortunate for the former disgraced BC Premier that the HST came along. Vander Zalm that presenting the facts distorted with rhetoric works, or at least did in the past. While some denounce any attempt to discredit him, he and James are willing to walk this very fine line, because their political futures depend on it. There is always federal politics William.
Take note, that the fine line is being dictated by them, dismissing either of their actions and words, as if they are both on the right side of history.
The HST  (the opportunity) has brought out “the self-professed beacons of hope” after it stepped onto the moral high-ground. In a vision of truth and enlightenment, Bill has “come to realize, finally, that we are living in a dictatorship.” He knows. He admits to having established one himself, while in power.
He fondly remembers that in his dictatorship, for the most part, fortunately, he was a benevolent one. Bill doesn’t mention another loathed tax, one that his Social Credit government introduced in 1988: To this day, the property transfer tax affects every homebuyer in B.C. It dumps about $1-billion into provincial coffers each year.
It is likely not fair to split hairs, no matter how tempting it is. Still, that aromatic mystery scent wafting in the air over BC is not Tulips.
William Perry
Victoria, BC
My response…

In light of this email, I feel it is an opportune time to bring you this which I received only this morning.

Pinocchio, Snow White, and Superman are out for a little stroll in town one afternoon enjoying the sunshine. As they walked, they come across a sign: “Beauty contest for the most beautiful woman in the world.”
“I am entering!” said Snow White.
After half an hour she comes out and they ask her, “Well, how’d ya do?”
“I won First Place !,” said Snow White.
They continue walking and they see another sign: “Contest for the strongest man in the world.”
“I’m entering,” says Superman.
After half an hour, he returns and they ask him, “How did you make out?” “I won First Place too,” answers Superman.. “Did you ever have a doubt?”
They continue walking when they see a third sign: “Contest! Who is the greatest liar in the world?”
Pinocchio quickly enters the contest. After half an hour he returns with tears in his eyes.
“What happened?” they asked.

“Who the hell is Gordon Campbell?” asked Pinocchio

You have lied about fixing the recall and initiative act when you complained about the NDP, sold the BCR when you said you wouldn’t, and generally lied to BC electors all along.
But now when you got caught in your biggest lie yet, you cry foul.  And this letter by William Perry, highlights the sad state of BC politics.
If you recall history, yes Bill Vander Zalm was despised by many for any number of decisions.  But he must be remembered for being the premier who put recall and initiative on the ballot. And it was passed by over 80% on both questions.
Granted the legislation is virtually unworkable, it’s interesting to note that you Mr Campbell, have done what no other premier has done.
You and your tax, are so hated by voters, that you are the one person who could make the initiative process work.
WELL DONE PREMIER CAMPBELL!!
Please accept my regards,
Mike Summers. Leader
BC Refederation Party

10 days left. Old parties still doing the same old.

May 2nd, 2009

A real sign of our times.

A real sign of our times.

With just 10 days left, BC Refed is making a difference in this election. Just as my BULLFIGHT analogy goes, the other politicians are still trying to manipulate the issues/cape to confuse voters. BC Refed has identified the problem and it is now, as it has always been, politicians. The people of BC have had enough of same old same old tired politics. The people of BC are being handed a choice in parties and what they are being offered. Onlt BC Refed offers the one thing people want NOW. What is that one thing? “CONTROL”. Once people of BC have absolute control of BC’s politicians, then the ‘issues’ will smooth out and life will regain some simplicity because the politicians will not go off doing anything extreme because they will “KNOW” that the citizens will claw back anything like it. I am very positive about this election. And I am proud to be associated with the people I running with.
Our candiadtes have done an absolutely stunning job considering how very little we have had to work with.
Good luck my friends. See you in the legislature, right?
