Les Layne in Time Colonist pans Campbell and takes a swipe at the NDP too. HAVE YA HAD ENOUGH YET???

July 15th, 2010

Layne in one of his better columns notes the Campbell is in a terrible spot.

The Liberals are hoping that anger is temporary and you’ll just get used to the HST.  After all, there is two and three quarter years to go in his term right?

They are in territory that the NDP were in when they were decimated at the polls.  Joy and Jenny was all there was.

What to do?  There is no winning this one. Even if Campbell steps down in disgrace,  there is nobody to step up and revitalize the party.

Like two peas in a pod. They both suck...

Like two peas in a pod. They both suck...

Then he took aim at the lack of noise from the NDP over revelations that Ida Chong was taking every single penny the legislature allows.  Her meal allowance for someone living locally, minutes away from home, shows an utter contempt for the state of the BC economy.

The fact that the NDP didn’t speak up?  Well they are two peas in a pod aren’t they?  Both exactly the same and playing from the same play book.

Voting for either one continues the insanity.

They are little more than liars, cheats and thieves.

HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH YET?

“I can’t help feeling so helpless.”

June 28th, 2010

It’s a feeling shared by so many as we approach the start date of the HST and we still don’t have a Democratic answer to it.

The ANTI-HST PETITION due to be submitted early on the 30th rather than on the 5th of July, really exemplifies BC Refederation’s  belief that BC is ready for a change democratically.

No wonder voter apathy is at an all time high in Canada.

SWITZERLAND also has high voter apathy during general elections.  It’s not important to them who runs and is elected.  WHY??? They have absolute control of their politicians.  Politicians are elected as part time employees and are part of a proportional representational system.  But because they CONTROL their politicians, it doesn’t matter WHO the elect. Their frequent initiatives, direct government policy.  The people vote and the vote is BINDING on the government to implement.

The more I look into the Swiss system, the more I fall in deeper love with it and wonder when we are going to have this for ourselves?

IT’S OUR TURN BC!!!  Look to Switzerland for hope!!

We at BC Refederation used them as our model. Join today and support real change.

Blair Lekstrom bails on Liberal sinking ship!

June 12th, 2010

The first casualty of the Liberal insistence on ramming through HST is Blair Lekstrom.

Lekstrom admits to voting for it, but he said it has been made abundantly clear the his constituents don’t want any part of it.

Blair is hoping that bailing has saved his political butt.

Now there is six more MLAs that need to make a move.  Will they?

Letter to Flaherty Published in PG Free Press

Don’t bring HST in

Editor:

An open letter to Finance Minister Jim Flaherty

As you are aware, the citizens of B.C. have collected an astounding 600,000 signatures, representing over 15 per cent in each of the 85 constituencies.

That petition demands that the Government of B.C. introduce legislation to withdraw the agreement with the federal government, or take it to a referendum. We respectfully ask you to honour the wishes of the people and delay implementation of HST pending validation and final vote in any referendum that may subsequently be called.

I need not remind you that this is only fair to voters who have long supported Conservative members and who seek a democratic response from government.

And, it will add to the stability of business in B.C. which will be asked to shift tax collection methods one way, only to have them shifted back upon successful referendum in September 2011.

At that time. the government will be obligated to repay consumers in B.C. and it will likely result in a breaking of the bank.

For that reason, I adjure you to put off implementation of the HST pending final resolution of the petition.

It’s official. The Liberals are in a NO WIN situation.

June 9th, 2010

The Liberal legacy of lies, deceit and betrayal of BC Tax Payers has taken it’s toll.

And the arrogance of Liberal leader Gordon Campbell is to blame.  The HST was the final straw as voters in Liberal held constituencies find 62% of voters would sign a recall petition.  That is overwhelming poll numbers and everything I heard when collecting signatures during the ANTI-HST Petition.

John Rustad job on the line?

John Rustad job on the line?

John Rustad I found out, is very vulnerable to a recall.  He is not well liked, but the HST anger has pushed supporters over the edge.

The poll results along with the story are in the Vancouver Sun newspaper.

Liberal arrogance abounds.

May 27th, 2010

What shall we say then to those who are looking for a replacement to the Liberals?

You know that the NDP is about labour and not about democracy.  They believe, like Liberal Terry Lake, in representative democracy.

They believe that elected representatives can know better than you.

The BC Conservatives?  What about them?  They are just more of the same.  They really covet the federal Conservative vote.  They make themselves out to be the “other” choice, but are they?  No.

BC Refederation, sets itself apart from all other political parties.   We believe in representative democracy too.  We believe your MLA ought to SERVE YOU in your constituency.  We believe the job of the MLA is to take care of day to day administration of the province.

But what if you MLA’s  judgment takes a holiday, like we are seeing with the HST???  What then.  Then you the voter will have recourse.  Starting from the day the bill is passed.  There is a 100 day cooling off period where voters can decide to initiate a VOTER VETO of the bill.  The voter’s control the final process.  Intitiative if they don’t like it, and if it’s okay with them they do nothing. And, the results are binding on the government.  They have no choice.

This is NOT government by referendum.  It is CONTROL of government by referendum.

We live in an age of fast moving technology.  Information passes quickly.  What should you be bound to a system that worked in the mid 1800’s with technology as we have today.

We are literate.  They weren’t all that way then.  It’s time to change the system.

BC Refederation is the moderate, centrist alternative.

BC Refed joins the fight!!

September 1st, 2009

The BC Refederation Party has joined the “Fight HST” and is joining with Bill Vander Zalm and others to see the HST suspended.

Gordon Campbell would have you and I believe that they had no idea whatsoever that they were going to stick us with the HST.  They also apparently had no idea whatsoever that the budget shortfall was not going to be a paltry $500 MILLION. In fact, it will be upwards of $3 BILLION.

And our supposedly fiscally prudent Liberals are bracing BC taxpayers for the biggest insult to come. That is of course the 2010 Olympic Games.

Bill Vander Zalm, the former BC Socred premier, is leading the people of BC in an initiative application. The way ahead is extremely difficult, but needful. It is also everything BC Refed is all about. We above all parties are the ones pushing for this right on anything politicians do. Only thing we want is for something binding.  This isn’t. As such, it is risky for all involved.

We need 10% or the VOTERS LIST in all constituencies in BC in 90 days after the application has been accepted.

I need help in the north. Get involved in your own rally to let your MLA know you are not happy about this punishing tax added to all of the other insults we have had.

GET YOUR RUBBER DUCKIE READY!! WE ARE GOING TO TAKE A BATH ON THIS ONE BABY!!!

Please join in the fight against the HST

For Immediate Release

May 13th 2009 - “the day after”.

Wow! May 13th has come along and we are thought to be depressed and dejected over the results of last night’s election results. Or so that was the reaction I got in the store this morning by the girl at the check out.

But instead, I got to hold my head high and just as proud as a peacock! What an amazing thing has happened to us. Prior to this election, we were in total obscurity. It seemed that NOBODY knew we were in existence. Today though, we have gone from that obscurity to “ALSO-RAN”.

We did get something from the

Black Press Group of community papers across this province and in Nanaimo, The Dialogue

. We were treated with respect and fairness by both. We did not receive any bias or anything more than objective reporting. To them I extend my thanks on behalf of the candidates and the party for simply being fair in reporting. We ask no more than that.

It has been noted that we got zero in terms of “journalistic objectivity” from Canwest / Global and oddly enough, we got zero support of acknowledgement from the ‘run of the river group’ and or the e-periodical, The Tyee. And for all of that…GUESS WHAT?

WE INCREASED OUR CAPTURE OF CANDIDATES AND VOTERS BY AN ASTOUNDING 500%.

What other party has done that.

I want to thank Dennis Shaw for his seemingly tireless effort to see the cause of democracy put forward. I applaud the vision and foundational research and sheer labour to get us to this point. I thank you Dennis personally for all you have done and thank you for your driven devotion to this cause.

Mel Garden, our vice-president and communications officer is moving to Alberta to be with his wife, and spawn an Alberta Refederation Party. Mel, your work and organized effort is appreciated and your shoes will be tough to fill should you step aside.

To all of our 2009 candidates,

Alberni-Pacific Rim Dallas Hills

Comox Valley Paula Berard

Cowichan Valley Michial Moore

Fort Langley-Aldergrove Jordan Braun

Fraser-Nicola Dian Brooks

Kamloops-North Thompson Wayne Russell

Kelowna-Mission Daniel Thorburn

Nanaimo Linden Shaw

Nanaimo-North Cowichan Ron Fuson

Parksville-Qualicum Bruce Ryder

Peace River North Sue Arntson

Penticton Wendy Dion

Port Moody-Coquitlam Donna Vanderkerkhove

Powell River-Sunshine Coast Allen McIntyre

Prince George-Valemount Don Roberts

Vancouver-Fairview Alex Frei

Vancouver-False Creek Otto Grecz

Vancouver-Fraserview Andrew Stevano

Vernon-Monashee RJ Busch

Victoria-Swan Lake Bob Savage

To all of us, we done damn good!! Let’s do it again.

When I called my Liberal opponent to acknowledge his win, I told him that he should get fitted for some asbestos slippers. I will be keeping his feet to the fire. His ride won’t be easy.

So to you all, take a breath, decompress and if you can, let’s do a bit of brainstorming to come up with a catchy slogan that we can brand to us. I look forward to working WITH you all. Your election war stories are interesting and valuable for policy construction. I look forward to that task of refining policy so that we are even better armed next time.

Again, I thank you all very much for a job well done in spite of no money and little media support, exceptions noted above, with minimal assistance and no advertising to speak of.

As they say in the army,

“We have done so much with so little for so long, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing.”

I think we are qualified. But it’s so much easier with the money. After the election finance reports have been made public, you will be able to see how much the Liberals and NDP spent to ‘rule over you’.

Thank you all very much,

Mike Summers, Leader
