Premiers’ exact words about the income tax invasion

Premiers’ exact words about the income tax invasion,
at the Dominion -Provincial conference on 14 Jan 1941

But first - let’s answer three questions

  • How does the BC Refederation Party know what the Premiers said in 1941 ?
  • Did the federal government lie to the Premiers and the provinces ?
  • Did the federal government admit that their tax invasion defied the constitution ?

Direct Democracy

Voters need a way to keep politicians honest

honesty-sign.thumbnail

The Refederation Party of BC proposes the most comprehensive system of Direct Democracy of any in BC.  The party has written the text of a “BC Direct Democracy Act”, after researching the Swiss model.

We are well past the stage of suggesting it, or promising it. When a Refed government submits this draft legislation to a BC referendum the voters will be able to choose options to extend voter supervision to the BC bureaucracy and the BC judicial system, as well as the Legislature, and to add Recall of appointed and elected public officials, and to choose to install a referendum system at the municipal level. Which other political party is willing to govern the province on these terms ? On the main menu are links to more articles explaining  how Direct Democracy will benefit British Columbians.

Powerful tools of Direct democracy

Powerful tools of Direct democracy

very-small-r

What are the powerful tools that Direct Democracy puts into the hands of the BC voter? Here is a very brief summary:
  • Voters have the Right to approve or veto constitutional changes.
  • Voters have the Right to propose constitutional changes.
  • Voters have the Right to approve or veto any legislation.
  • Voters have the Right to propose legislation.
  • Voters have the Right to approve or veto treaties and international agreements.
  • Voters have the Right to approve or veto actions by the bureaucracy.
  • Voters have the Right to approve or veto decisions of the judiciary which amount to “social engineering”.
Note that voters have the Right to control the thresholds and the timing of referendums, and the text of the questions.

Referendum results are binding on government.

Contrast this with BC’s present political system.

Voters are allowed no political Rights.
Voters are given one privilege which can be withdrawn - they are permitted to vote once every four years. With that one vote they give up control over their government until the next election.

HOW OTTAWA SPENDS BC’s INCOME TAXES

HOW OTTAWA SPENDS BC’s INCOME TAXES

"just a few examples to ruin your day"

Dear BC citizen - (from BC Refed)

You work - you earn - and you send income tax to Ottawa without suspecting that there might be a lawful alternative to sending income tax to Ottawa.

a

Did you know that the Quebec Resolutions which created Ottawa in 1867 forbade the new central government to collect any direct tax ? Income tax was to be paid only to the provinces.

b

Now today there is a lawful way for the province of BC to keep and use all income tax raised in BC.In the meanwhile Ottawa gives BC income tax money to AdscamQuebec. Quebec has money to buy out BC businesses. Are BC folks asleep ?

Read this report and then vote to put an end to it. BC Refed is the only party with a coherent plan for a tax revolt by the provincial governments across Canada. Read the plan on this website. Think BC Refed.

A REFED Message to all BC Voters

A REFED MESSAGE TO ALL BC VOTERS

very-small-r

No matter which political party we support,
we all lose control over the Victoria government at the moment when we mark our ballot. The system forces us to do that.

But BC Refed says that there is a better way for us to govern ourselves.

A BC Refed government will make the key changes needed to give the citizens input into how this province is run. In 1991 the BC electorate voted 83% to add direct voting to our system, but no party will legislate that.

So if the party you have been supporting will not give the citizens a comprehensive and automatic direct vote mechanism such as Refed promotes, then there is only one way to get it.

Vote only for a party [any party] that will introduce the Swiss system of direct voting to BC. If you do not know the Swiss system, then check it out.

Constitutions are mere “goddam bits of paper” [to quote a certain powerful president] if citizens can not control government between elections.

This is not a plug for BC Refed. It is a plug for any party that will give BC a constitution that includes the direct vote.

Remember - to think clearly is a political act. Vote yourself into power at the next election by voting ONLY for the direct vote in BC. There is something suspicious about a politician who opposes it.

Could the BC Refederation Party be a home for voters who have always considered themselves NDP ?

tommy-douglas.thumbnail

BC Refed was told this account of the name change in 1961 from the old CCF to the New Democratic Party. Person “A” had always strongly supported those CCF policies which benefited the people, and he accepted a position as a personal assistant to Tommy Douglas, the first NDP leader. Person “A” told BC Refed that within months he was so disillusioned by the way the CCF principles were altered by the new NDP establishment, that he quit the job.

This story may be only partially true, but BC Refed suspects that the performance of the last NDP government in Victoria forced many NDP’ers to vote Liberal in 2001. Is the New Democratic Party starting to lose its way ? Is another party going to be the champion of the little guy ? Today one fact is true. The BC New Democratic Party establishment have no intention of allowing the people any say in how the NDP will rule this province if elected. And this is a party “for” the people ?

On the other hand BC Refed is the BC party with the policies to make the politicians answerable to the people, and policies to give some power to the little guy.
Isn’t that really what NDP supporters have always wanted, deep down ? -? -? Would not really dedicated NDP supporters consider switching and voting for
BC Refed’s direct vote system ? Does the direct vote not give a voice to the little guy ?

Could the Refederation Party of BC be a home for voters who have always considered themselves to be provincial Liberals ?

question-mark-blue.thumbnail

Four years of Liberal policies for BC proved too much for many BC voters by 2005, and the sell-off of BC has continued in their second term.

The BC electorate had given the Liberals 77 seats in order to reverse NDP extremism, but no one expected the harsh attacks on the sick, the poor, and the old, or the shady sale of public institutions like BC Rail. The Liberals may have had the right idea, but they went about it the wrong way. So what would have been the right way ? How could the necessary changes have been made without extremism as arrogant as the previous NDP government ?

To the supporters of ALL provincial parties in BC other than the ndplib party

BC Refed congratulates the executives of BC’s “other” provincial parties. BC Refed agrees with
90% of the policies of the other parties. In some cases BC Refed is in almost total agreement with policies proposed by other parties.

Party Principles

WHAT MAKES BC REFED DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PARTIES ?

very-small-r

The Principles of the BC Refederation Party

Important Note

The Principles of BC Refed were made non-amendable by the founders of the party, for the protection of party members. The Principles contain the main thrust and intent of the party, and are intended to ensure that the party’s main course cannot be altered by “latecomers”. Everything else in the party is subject to the approval of the membership.

The Principles of the Party are:

1. As government the BC Refederation Party will, within 100 days, legislate an irrevocable BC Direct Democracy Act, comprising Initiative, Referendum and Recall, which will be binding and workable. This Act will be approved by a direct vote of the citizens of British Columbia.

2. As government, the BC Refederation Party will act immediately to regain control of all provincial jurisdictions and powers. Where legislation by a BC Refederation Party government, passed in order to comply with the wishes of the majority of BC voters, runs contrary to Canadian federal legislation, the BC legislation will prevail throughout the province.

3. At the direction of the BC voters, a BC Refederation Party government will eventually start negotiations with a view to entering a federation with other like-minded provinces of Canada

4. Subject to a BC referendum, the official language of BC will be English, the international language of business.

LETTERS TO BC REFED FROM BRITISH COLUMBIANS

Foreword -
Politicians generally figure that every letter they receive gives an idea of the thinking of hundreds of their voters. The number of messages that RefedBC is continuing to receive seems to indicate that there exists a groundswell all over BC for change in the political system. BC Refed was founded to achieve exactly that fundamental change.
Here are extracts from some letters received by the BC Refederation Party:

The most recent letter, just received:

By the way I just visited the said website and found the home page very cogent and pithy and with an excellent tone. Well done. “Here is our membership renewal. I would rather belong to Refed - at least this party is honest and worthwhile.” “Personally, I think the REFED BC is the most interesting and practical Party to ever appear in Canada and I am with them all the way. As one of my readers has declared, “I will give REFED BC my full support because they offer the only sane solution to ridding ourselves of this sham democracy, this Ottawa colonial dictatorship”.
