6.1 - A Refed Message to NDP Supporters

Could the BC Refederation Party be a home for voters who have always considered themselves NDP ?

BC Refed was told this account of the name change in 1961 from the old CCF to the New Democratic Party. Person “A” had always strongly supported those CCF policies which benefited the people, and he accepted a position as a personal assistant to Tommy Douglas, the first NDP leader. Person “A” told BC Refed that within months he was so disillusioned by the way the CCF principles were altered by the new NDP establishment, that he quit the job.

This story may be only partially true, but BC Refed suspects that the performance of the last NDP government in Victoria forced many NDP’ers to vote Liberal in 2001. Is the New Democratic Party starting to lose its way ? Is another party going to be the champion of the little guy ? Today one fact is true. The BC New Democratic Party establishment have no intention of allowing the people any say in how the NDP will rule this province if elected. And this is a party “for” the people ?

On the other hand BC Refed is the BC party with the policies to make the politicians answerable to the people, and policies to give some power to the little guy.
Isn’t that really what NDP supporters have always wanted, deep down ? -? -? Would not really dedicated NDP supporters consider switching and voting for
BC Refed’s direct vote system ? Does the direct vote not give a voice to the little guy ?
